Ardashir I, founder of the Sassinian Empire, makes Zoroastrianism the official religion, promoting and regulating it. A ritual hierarchy is formed, with chief priests and a supreme priest. The Avesta is compiled and written down.
7th - 10th century CE
Zoroastriniasts are persecuted, humiliated, harrassed, and even labeled impure by Muslims. Under the heavy persecution, most Zoroastrianists convert to Islam.
910 - 950 CE
A community of Zoroastrianists, Parsis, escape to India to avoid persecution. They establish themselves as the Parsees.
10th century - 1890 CE
Persecution continues
1383 - 1393 CE
A Muslim Turk called Timur the Lame conquers Persia. Many uprisings and rebellions occur, so Timur massacres and destroys many cities.
